Comments: Deciduous broadleaf tree native to Iran in south Asia, but widely planted in Mediterranean countries. Leaves are narrow, 2" to 3" long and are dark green. Large red fruit with leathery skin and bright red seeds which ripen in the fall. Species tends to be bushy unless pruned to a single trunk. Mature trees can grow to 20'. Spanish missionaries brought this fruit to California.
