Comments: Broadleaf evergreen, native to Australia. First ones were planted in California in 1856. Probably is the fastest growing tree in the world. Dark green sickle-shaped leaves. White flowers in spring. Fibrous peeling bark. Building in foreground is all that remains of the Stanford Winery--a winery and vineyard started by Leland Stanford, railroad barron, state Governor, and founder of Stanford University.
